The town of Hastings has witnessed two historical events of note in its time; one rather famous battle, and the birth of one of the DJ greats, Danny Howells. On November 24th, roughly 960 years since Harold got his eye caught in crossfire, we will be holding a big old get-together at The End in honour of Danny’s birthday. The man himself will be leading the celebrations, supplying eight uninterrupted hours of fantastic music across both rooms.
After a year of having the pleasure of Mr Howells as a faithful resident at The End, he’s proven his undeniable talent with epic, marathon sets, and in the process has shown himself worthy of a spot at the table of the legendary End DJs Msrs. Garnier, Vath, Marky and Maas. Friday November 24th will be another unmissable opportunity to catch one of the greats at work; an eight hour experience allowing the DJ to fully explore the scope of his abilities.
Danny’s style is about as unique as you will find in clubland today, and after eight years inside the top 25 of DJ Mag’s Top 100, it’s safe to say his meticulous mixing and sublime selection are still in huge demand. Danny famously describes his selection as ‘deepsexyfuturistictechfunkhouse’ (patent pending), and in a scene that simply loves to pigeonhole, it sums up Danny’s character perfectly that he has created this tongue twisting genre all of his own. Be prepared…prog house may be the sound that made Danny’s name, however, at Dig Deeper you can expect to hear a filthy house tune, dripping with funk, thrown in with a techno tune that reeks of Detroit, mixed up with some of the very deepest house this side of Buzzin Fly. It’s all there and it’s all good.
As a DJ, Danny Howells is about more than just music, with character - that quality so often elusive in DJs - coming out of his ears. Watching Danny at work makes it abundantly clear why he is so often dubbed ‘The Clubbers’ DJ’. The all-singing all-dancing all-smiling Danny Howells show creates a unique connection with a crowd, and it’s this ability to make a packed club grin and go mad that has made him one of the hottest DJs in the world for nigh on a decade.
